FREAK SHOW 2016 OFFICIAL SELECTIONS

The big question here is “Are you a FREAK like me?” Because if you are we are excited to announce our Official 2016 Film Selections. The festival will run from October 21-23, 2016 at Premiere Cinemas 14 in Orlando, Fl located in the Fashion Square Mall.

Weekend passes are currently available for sale to the general public at www.freakshowfilmfest.com. Passes are limited, so be sure to get them while they last. Individual single block film tickets will be available soon both online as well as the Premiere Cinemas Box Office.

The event will be hosted by Syfy Channel’s very own Scott Tepperman from Ghost Hunters International.

We will also be premiering our opening night screening of THE 6TH FRIEND on Friday Oct. 21, 2016 starring Jamie Bernadette (I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE: DEJA VU), Chantelle Albers (MODERN FAMILY), Dominique Swain, Jessica Morris, Tania Nolan, and Monique Rosario. A film produced largely by a talented group of female filmmakers. Showcasing something relatively unseen and extremely welcomed in the horror genre.

This red carpet event will feature the east coast premiere of the film along with attending filmmakers. Accompanying the screening will be the short entitled GIRL #2, directed by David H. Jeffery.

THE 6TH FRIEND (USA) 2016  *East Coast Premiere
Directed by Letia Clouston
Description: In this slasher film with a paranormal twist, six college best friends throw their own private graduation party when the stoner of the group orders in a psychedelic from her drug dealer, who sticks around to join in their fun. Drugged and disoriented, the girls’ special night quickly becomes a dark, foggy nightmare of blood and violence. Five years later, the girls gather together once again in hopes of rekindling that close friendship that they once had, only to find themselves being hunted by who, or what, they do not know.

SHORTWAVE (USA) 2016
Directed by Ryan Gregory Phillips
Description: Josh and Isabel Harris, after suffering the loss of their only child, relocate to a secluded hillside research facility with the hopes of repairing their broken family. After years of trying, Josh and his research partner, Thomas, have a breakthrough involving a cryptic shortwave radio signal and its universal origins. Something within the signal resonates with Isabel and she begins experiencing seeming hallucinations and visions of distant memories. Upon further investigation into the phenomenon, the scientists fear for Isabel’s health while Isabel fears the signal has attracted something sinister to their new home.

LOST CREEK (USA) 2016

Description: Eleven-year-old Peter Rowland has just moved with his mother to the town of Brackenvale. There he meets Maggie, a mysterious girl with whom he shares an instant bond. As Peter settles into his new life, he realizes something is wrong in the town. He is plagued by nightmares, and the scary things from his imagination are becoming more and more real with each passing night. With Halloween coming soon, Maggie and Peter discover something frightening waits in the woods near Lost Creek. They must band together to face their fears, and uncover the dark secret of Lost Creek before it’s too late…

Description:  What starts out as the last hurrah on the closing night of an infamous small-town strip club, quickly turns into a night of bloodshed when a crew of coal miners shows up and with them a deadly contaminant. Former baseball player and current club owner, Blue Jean Douglas has decided to hand over her bar to a new owner and leave town for good, but her plans are thwarted when she discovers the magnitude of the epidemic that has been unleashed. With victims piling up, Blue Jean must step up to the plate to protect her family, her friends and her bar before it’s too late and she loses everything she holds dear.

Description: Teenage friends out for Spring Break get unexpectedly detoured to an isolated motel where a deadly STD virus now runs rampant, turning those infected into the living dead.

LAND OF SMILES (CANADA) 2016

Description: A Young Backpacker is lured through the third world paradise of Thailand searching for her kidnapped best friend and unknowingly she becomes the object of a sociopath’s obsession.

DRIFTER (USA) 2016
Directed by Chris von Hoffmann
Description: DRIFTER centers on a pair of outlaw brothers, Miles and Dominic Pierce, in a post apocalyptic desert wasteland. They are on their way to kill the man who murdered their father however their mission takes a drastic detour when their car is hijacked causing them to take shelter in the eerie town of Deml. The brothers quickly discover the town is inhabited by a family of cannibalistic lunatics and their sadistic Mayor, Doyle. Now they must fight for survival to escape the town.

ABOUT THE FREAK SHOW HORROR FILM FESTIVAL

Now in its 11th year, this international horror genre film festival is the brainchild of FEAR FILM Studios Owner Robert J. Massetti. As a veteran of the industry, Robert wanted to make a film festival that celebrates independent horror by giving the artist a forum to show his or her films.

This 3 day showcase highlights the most talented filmmakers from around the world. It’s primary focus is to help filmmakers reach their true creative potential by opening up networking and visibility across the industry.
