We kindly remind you of the importance of carefully reviewing and complying with all guidelines for submitting your film to the festival. These guidelines serve as the foundation for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the festival.

SCREENING FORMAT
We require a DCP or Digital Cinema Package. This is a standard delivery format for film screenings at a digital cinema.
SUBTITLES
Films not in English are require to have English Subtitles.
HORROR GENRE
We are a Horror Genre Film Festival. Films submitted must have elements of horror to be accepted.

2025 Film submission Guidelines
As an International Horror Genre Film Festival, we invite submissions of films that have some form of horror elements in them. This reiterates that we also accept Sci-Fi movies provided that they also have horror elements. Our program covers documentaries, comedies, experimental, animation, dramas, etc., as long as they are in the horror genre. Please note that we do not accept any Fan Films.
Foreign language films are welcome for submission as long as they are dubbed or subtitled in English.
*Please be aware that we only deal with filmmakers and not sales agents or distributors.
*We also request you to kindly keep in mind that submission fees are non-refundable. We look forward to viewing your submissions and bringing forth a varied and diverse program for our festival audience.

Final Screening Format
We require a DCP for final screening. DCP stands for ‘Digital Cinema Package’ which is the global industry standard format for exhibiting films in cinemas. In order to ensure that your final screening format meets our rigorous standards, we require a high-quality DCP. If you already have a DCP, you can deliver your DCP fast and easy by sending us a link through Drop Box, Google Drive or any Large file transfer service. Once delivered we will test the DCP to make sure it is working properly. *Please make sure your sound is properly mixed*
*Please note if you don’t have a DCP or can’t afford one, we can make one for you*
Subtitles
All foreign films NOT in English must be subtitled to be accepted into the festival. Please have all English Subtitles included with your DCP if accepted to screen at the festival.
No Fan Films
Due to copyright laws we can NOT accept any FAN Films unless you have FULL rights to the material.
NO FEE WAIVERS
**WE DO NOT GRANT ANY FEE WAIVERS OF ANY KIND.** It would not be fair or ethical to let one filmmaker not pay fees while everyone else has to pay. Unfortunately, fees are necessary to help cover costs involved in putting on the festival. Please don’t ask as it wastes your time and ours.
Copyrights
An entrant is solely responsible for ensuring that all necessary copyright and other permissions for their film has been obtained prior to submitting their film. This includes, but not limited to, music, stock images, footage, photos, graphics and sound. Entrants warrant their film does not breach any of the intellectual rights, or any other rights, of any other person. Entrants will fully indemnify the FREAK SHOW Horror Film Festival of any costs, loss, expenses, damages, or liability, whether direct or indirect, arising out of a claim by a third party or another party.
Accepted Films
Films accepted to screen at the festival receive 2 VIP Weekend Passes. Additional passes can be purchased at a 50% discount. *Unfortunately, the Festival does not provide room, board or travel for filmmakers.
WE ONLY DEAL WITH FILMMAKERS. NO SALES AGENTS OR DISTRIBUTORS!
All entries selected into the FREAK SHOW Horror Film Festival grant FREAK SHOW Horror Film Festival the right to use any footage from the preview screener and all submitted publicity photos and any other materials sent to us pertaining to this entry for FREAK SHOW Horror Film Festival promotional purposes, without limitations.
THE FINE PRINT
*WE DO NOT PAY FOR LAB FEES, UPLOAD FEES, KDM FEES, OR ANY KIND OF FEES FOR YOUR FILM. ANY FEES ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE FILMAKER*
BY SUBMITTING THE MATERIAL, I/WE HEREBY AGREES TO INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND DEFEND THE FESTIVAL, ITS EMPLOYEES, DIRECTORS, REPRESENTATIVES, AND AFFILIATES FROM ALL LIABILITY, CLAIMS, AND DAMAGES IN CONNECTION WITH THE SUBMISSION AND FROM ANY FEES AND EXPENSES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO REASONABLE ATTORNEYS’ FEES, THAT ANY OF THEM MAY INCUR IN CONNECTION THEREWITH. SUBMITTING ALSO GRANTS US RIGHTS TO USE ALL MATERIALS SUBMITTED FOR ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION WITHOUT LIMITATION.
